Irvine, California (March 12, 2018) – Golden State Foods (GSF), one of the largest diversified food processors and distributors in the United States, recently awarded their City of Industry – Distribution (CID) team the 2017 Chairman’s Challenge award for outstanding facility achievement in safety, customer service, employee satisfaction, plant efficiencies, profitability and innovation. Recognized as GSF’s highest internal honor, the annual award was presented to the team at Golden State Foods’ annual Partners’ Meeting in Laguna Niguel, California. For the Chairman’s Challenge Award, the CID team was recognized for demonstrating outstanding performance in a number of significant areas, including these few key accomplishments:
Developed and transitioned six managers into and out of facility to benefit the overall organization;
Contributed new tools for the company in technology, safety, training and equipment programs;
Encouraged 82 percent of associates to participate in the GSF Foundation;
Recognized as “Contributor of the Year” from the local Ronald McDonald House;
Scored positively on third-party audits and on customer satisfaction surveys.
“This year’s Chairman’s Challenge Award went to our CID team, the largest distribution center in GSF, for accomplishing incredible results in 2017, while continually growing, innovating, and testing new ideas to provide the very best for their people, and customers,” said Mark Wetterau, chairman and chief executive officer, Golden State Foods. “The 420-person team at CID has truly exemplified GSF’s creed and values, which led to this esteemed company honor. I look forward to seeing CID continue to raise the bar, and achieve even further success in 2018.” “Accepting the 2017 Chairman’s Challenge award on behalf of all of our associates at CID is an incredible honor, but I wouldn’t have this opportunity if it weren’t for the dedication of every single person on my team,” said Stephen Wetterau, managing director – CID. “With nearly 25 million cases delivered to our customers annually and more than six million miles driven each year out of CID, this recognition validates the importance of structure, talent and safety to achieve great results, and I’m so proud to represent the incredible team who earned this award.” In addition to the Chairman’s Challenge Award, “Best in Class” awards were distributed in three categories for Quality Custom Distribution (QCD), Food Processing, and GSF Distribution. The winners for these categories were: QCD Seattle, City of Industry Manufacturing (CIM), and City of Industry Distribution (CID). The Chairman’s Challenge winner is determined each year from these three candidates.
