This month’s Woman in the Warehouse, Anna Morehu, is known for her steadfast leadership as a production team leader at the Groenz liquid products facility in Wellington, New Zealand. Ten years ago, Anna joined Groenz as a filling and packing operator. Just two years later, she became the team leader.
Balancing multiple responsibilities in her current role, she leads one of the company’s largest teams, encompassing production, filling, and packing. Anna guides all production to meet the highest performance standards and ensures that associates adhere to all food safety, quality, regulatory, and customer compliance guidelines.
“I treat my team as my family,” she says. “I try to inculcate a sense of ownership in my team, so that they are confident, sincere, and focused in everything they do.”
Grateful for the opportunity to continue to develop her leadership skills, Anna is committed to driving continuous improvements. She strives to minimize downtime for the most efficient outcomes, while emphasizing the top priorities of health and safety of her colleagues.
Anna recommends showing kindness, compassion, and respect for others, especially for women entering the manufacturing industry, which she finds both challenging and rewarding. She says that this approach “paves the way to more opportunities.”
For Anna, the most rewarding part of her job is the family-like unity her team possesses. “Kua Manaakitia ahau (I am blessed),” she shares in the Māori language, which is spoken by the indigenous people of mainland New Zealand.
