Kimberley Rome Reflects on 23 Years with GSF Protein Products

For Kimberley Rome, her 23-year career at Golden State Foods has been an incredible journey filled with growth, opportunity, and a deep sense of belonging. Starting in 2001 as a patty packer in Conyers, Georgia, Kimberley has since progressed through various operational roles, recently earning a promotion to Assistant Protein Operations Manager at the company’s Opelika, Alabama facility.

"GSF is more than just a job; it's family," Kimberley shares. "It has been a rewarding experience with consistent stability, growth, and development opportunities. I have gained a deep connection to the company's GSF Foundation and friendships that will last a lifetime."

Kimberley initially joined GSF because of the company's excellent reputation for stability, core values, and great benefits. "I needed a good job, so I applied for 'any open position' to get my foot in the door," she recalls. She didn’t realize at the time that her decision would lead to a fulfilling career spanning over two decades.

At GSF, Kimberley has successfully held numerous positions, including Scale Operator, Forklift Operator, Blender Operator, Control Room Operator, Team Lead, and Protein Operations Supervisor. Each role has contributed to her personal and professional growth, equipping her with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in her current role.

Kimberley attributes her long tenure at GSF to the company's belief in her potential and the individualized training and growth plans provided by management. "The company's Creed and Values, the selflessness of our work in the community through the GSF Foundation, and the family-oriented atmosphere are a perfect match for both my values and career goals," she explains.

When asked about the factors that have supported her career advancement, Kimberley highlights the importance of open communication, access to GSF University's Training Room in Opelika, and collaborating with different departments to better understand the bottom line.

Kimberley's advice for others interested in advancing their careers at GSF includes: "Do not let fear hinder you from reaching your goal. Keep an open mind. Be hands-on, stay engaged, remain a student forever learning, and take advantage of the limitless opportunities and resources available."

Looking back on nearly a quarter-century with GSF, Kimberley is most grateful for the company's Creed and Values, which she has witnessed in action time and time again. "I have had the pleasure of witnessing them in action. 'We believe in God and the dignity of all people.' I was honored to pray at both Chairman's Challenge Award celebrations," she shares.

As for the future, Kimberley plans to continue leading by example, remaining humble, and enhancing her knowledge as the Assistant Protein Operations Manager. "I will never lose sight of where I started on the packing line," she says. "I will continue to embrace the upcoming innovation projects and prepare myself for the next chapter by simply learning and applying."

Kimberley's journey from patty packer to Assistant Protein Operations Manager is a testament to the incredible opportunities available at GSF for those who are willing to work hard, embrace change, and never stop learning. Her inspiring story serves as an example for anyone looking to build a fulfilling career in a supportive and dynamic organization.
