Several GSF leaders expanded their expertise and support for charity and industry organizations by joining various boards. Serving on these boards allows GSF associates to broaden their leadership skills, gain new and innovative industry knowledge, and positively impact the communities where GSF operates and where associates live.
Eric Treon, Group Vice President, Global McDonald’s Business Unit, officially joined the McDonald’s Supplier Network Board of Directors this year. His thoughtful participation in open board meetings and support for the Global Exploration Committees led to his appointment. This organization, consisting of over 150 companies and more than 800 individual members, adds value to the McDonald’s system by building, elevating, and leveraging system knowledge.
Earlier this summer, Twin Cedars Child Advocacy Center Inc. announced the appointment of Nate Murphy, Group Vice President, Operations, Protein Products, to its Board of Directors. The nonprofit, which supports children experiencing crises in their community, facilitates forensic interviews for victims of child abuse and provides advocacy and free counseling.
PJ Newcomb, GSF’s Sustainability Director, committed to a two-year term on the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef’s (USRSB) Board of Directors. Established in 2015, the USRSB aims to promote a sustainable beef industry by educating all parts of the supply chain and highlighting the sector's ongoing advancements.
Stephen Wetterau, Corporate Senior Vice President, Strategy, Technology and Innovation, will soon join the Board of Directors for Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. This nonprofit focuses on providing dignified, equitable, and consistent access to nutritious food, creating a foundation for community health. Continuing a tradition of GSF leadership with the local food bank, Stephen follows in the footsteps of former leaders Mark Wetterau and Bob Wolpert, supporting Second Harvest's efforts in Orange County.
