On Tuesday, June 5, Golden State Foods broke ground on a new manufacturing and distribution facility for its Liquid Products Division in Burleson, Texas. A Texas Enterprise Fund grant offer of $900,000 was extended to GSF contingent upon the company investing more than $19 million and the creation of 150 new jobs in Texas. The entire project, which will involve new construction and state-of-the-art design and build out is projected to exceed $70 million.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by nearly 60 people, including GSF executives, neighboring business leaders, city and state representatives, and various elected officials including Congressman Roger Williams, Mayor Pro tem, Dan McClendon and Johnson County Judge, Honorable Roger Harmon.
During his remarks, Congressman Roger Williams, who represents the 25th District of Texas, was so elated that GSF was breaking ground in Burleson, that he joked the company should change its name to “Lone Star State Foods!”
The new Burleson Liquid Products manufacturing facility is being developed due to GSF’s significant growth and will be GSF’s third Liquid Products facility in the United States, and the sixth globally. GSF’s Liquid Products division develops an array of sauces, dressings, condiments, syrups, and toppings for some of the largest QSR and retailers globally.
“One of GSF’s mottos is that what we take out, we’ll put twice back in,” said Mark Wetterau, Chairman, and CEO, GSF.“So we’re going to work hard to be a part of the Burleson community, and I couldn’t be more proud of the GSF associates, these people truly care, and they will make a difference here in Burleson.”
