On October 7, GSF’s facility Opelika set a new record of 5 million patties produced in 17 hours. Just two years ago, the Alabama facility began manufacturing McDonald’s burger patties. Now, their burger patty production averages a half million pounds per day.
From receiving and shipping to grinding and forming to packing and scaling, the entire Opelika production team works to minimize interruptions and downtime. That effort by every team member has brought domestic production efficiency up to 81 percent.
“Our new record is a true testament to team work and continuous improvements, including equipment enhancements that have enabled our facility to drive higher production and to best serve our customer.” – Nathan Murphy, Group Vice President of Operations, Protein
The facility also earned the highest safety rating of “AA” in its two-day audit by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) in May. With productivity, safety and sustainability initiatives thriving in Protein Products, Golden State Foods continues to provide McDonald’s with the highest-quality beef patties.
